Joachim Roenning grew up in a small town south of Oslo, Norway, called Sandefjord. Together with his childhood friend, Espen Sandberg, they spent their free time making short films and music videos with Joachim's dad's camcorder. In 1992 they both attended Stockholm Film School in Sweden, graduating in 1994. In 1992 they both attended Stockholm Film School in Sweden, graduating in 1994. Later that year, they served their mandatory year in the military, making propaganda films. In 1993 they founded their own company. They called it Roenberg - their last names put together. Early 1996, they began directing commercials professionally in Oslo. Their extensive, and award winning, work in commercials in Scandinavia led to major international commissions such as ads for Airbus, Nintendo, Fanta and Nokia. Roenberg established themselves in the American market with their spots for Capital One, Labatt's Blue and especially with their USA Today Superbowl 2000 Viewer's Poll-winning spot "Rex" for Budweiser. Early 2006 their 35 million dollar feature film debut "Bandidas", opened in theaters worldwide. They met the producer, legendary filmmaker Luc Besson, making commercials for his commercial company Dog Productions in Paris. Joachim Roenning has two daughters, Jo Hannah and Holly, with his wife Kristin. hide |
